Bernhard is an expert in innovation management, particularly on innovation in business ecosystems. His profile embraces both academia and practice: He is heading the area of innovation and being a director at the Institute of Marketing and Analytics, University of Lucerne. Also, he is a visiting professor at the renowned Aalborg University Business School, Denmark, and Research Fellow at University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. As a freelance consultant, he has been advising numerous firms on innovation management, management of business ecosystems, and strategy. He is a start-up mentor at F10 Fintech Accelerator, Zurich, Advisory Board Member of Calingo Insurance AG, and co-founder of the digital education platform spoqe. Bernhard is a sought-after keynote speaker on innovation management and business ecosystems. Prior to his current occupations, Bernhard was heading the Helvetia Innovation Lab, a collaboration between Helvetia Insurance and HSG St. Gallen. Previously, he used to work for Roland Berger as a strategy consultant, as a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London Business School, and as a project manager at the Institute of Technology Management, HSG St. Gallen. He holds a PhD in innovation management from University of St. Gallen and a master in business and engineering from Ilmenau University of Technology.
